We can find it in the Bükk-Mountain. Leaving the terminal of Felsőtárkányi Erdészet small, woody railway (Stimetz house), a woody path wait for the visitors. We may gain an insight into the living world of the forests in the course of some one and a half of the kilometre hikings of the path.

Grapes of Noé

According to the legend, Jesus and Peter apostole were walking around the vineyards of Istenmezeje. They were very thirsty and asked for a glass of water. The women didn't give them any water, and Jesus changed the grapes into stone.

Waterfall in the Valley of Ilona

The waterfall in the valley of Ilona is the largest among the three waterfalls of Hungary, about 10 m large. The Ilona Brook leaves from two small springs, that are fed by the Tőkés Well. The Ilona Brook, getting wedged in the sheer side of the Marhád /606 m/ and Cserepes Peak /734 m/, will get through the rocks. After leaving the nicest valley of the Mátra and getting through the last rock, it falls down. The vertical wall of the waterfall is the end of a 60 m wide basin, that shows it's real beauty, when we approach it from the Sándor Meadow. The 20-30 m tall beech-trees and the rocks command a wonderful view.

BÜKK NATIONAL PARK (Established: 1976)

Castle of De La Motte (Dobó Str. 10.)

This castle is the smallest baroque castle in the country, and its rooms and frescos are restored. The 200-year-old building built at the meeting point of the Bükk and the Great Plain is surrounded by a 3,5 ha large, orderly English park. The rooms are decorated with frescos and can be visited as a museum. There are 3 apartments, that are available for the visitors to stay in.

Memorial Park at the Recsk Forced Labour Camp - Historical Background 1950 - 53

The Forced Labour Camp between 1950 and 53 was created and operated by the State Defense Authority (ÁVH) based on the example of the Soviet gulags. It was a top secret institution of

the Rákosi dictatorship, Prime Minister Imre Nagy ordered to close the camp. Today operates as a Memorial Park.
